[05-05-2009] This lecture is concerned with stormwater management (SWM) and constitutes a part of a lecture cycle called On the Road to Stormwater Management. In order to address issues related to architecture and urban planning, a water manager (J. Vítek) joined forces with an acclaimed professor of architecture at Brno University of Technology (P. Pelčák). The process of SWM introduction into society ought to be concluded with the institutionalization of SWM principles. As the Czech Republic is at the outset of this process, the authors, with respect to their experience, seek to inform of the basic impediments which make the implementation of SWM principles difficult rather than to attempt to lay down rules, requirements and solutions.
